URGENT!  As you probably know, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake shook Haiti, on Saturday morning August 14th, with a “devastating blow” to this extremely impoverished country, which is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Since then, the aftershocks have continued to destroy, injure, and kill. The early, but latest, official reports has the earthquake killing at least 1,947 people with over 9,500 injuries, over 94,000 homes collapsed, as well as schools, medical centers, churches, bridges, and more; but, those figures are only a beginning of what may be. Just like the 2010 earthquake, which took over 240,000 lives and destroyed over one & a half million homes and structures, these early estimated numbers are low but will rapidly climb.

The streets have been filled with screaming, and with people that are searching for their loved ones or resources, medical help, food, and water. The disaster could hardly come at a worse time because this nation of 11 million people is still recovering from the last earthquake, with 37,000 Haitians still living in tents, as well as the deadly blow it took from Hurricane Matthew. Currently, it is facing several major challenges: their president being assassinated in July, the serious coronavirus outbreak, rising gang violence, an economic crisis, & much more. In addition to the earthquake on Saturday, they were just hit with tropical storm Grace which dumped 10 to 15 inches of rain on them thereby creating even more problems.

Can YOU imagine facing these many issues if you lived there? We must remember that you and I are so very blessed that we live in the richest nation in the world. The problem is that most Americans forget about how extremely blessed they are; and, when it comes to other human beings needing help, we have a way of turning our backs on them and saying it’s not my problem; but, IT IS!

Right now, the Haitians need our help in a desperate way. For example, right now there are babies and young children that have serious injures whereas they need amputations but there is no available antibiotics and anesthesia. Also, there are basic materials needed like painkillers, bandages, braces, and equipment to perform urgent operations, once there are enough doctors to do them.

We have assembled a team of Haitians, from the area around our orphanage and deaf school, to represent us and go on a mission trip to the southwestern part of Haiti to take some supplies, food, water, and lots of love as well as helping with the destruction there. But, we need funds not only for this trip but for the other trips or ways of help that God sends to us to do!  WILL YOU PLEASE HELP US TO HELP OTHERS THAT ARE SO DEVASTATED?  Please!!
